Tarikh (al-Tabari) 3980
Then the year 331 AH began
Translation
✧ Ibn al-Jawzī said: In Ādhār of this year, prices rose so high that people ate dogs, and pestilence befell the people. An enormous quantity of locusts arrived, such that every fifty raṭls were sold for a dirham, and people used them to relieve the high prices. At the beginning of al-Muḥarram, which is the middle of Aylūl, the heat became so intense that it took away breaths, and all of Aylūl passed with severe heat. Tishrīn entered similarly, and on the eighth day of it there was heat unlike any in Āb or Tammūz.
