Then the year 331 AH began
قَالَ الصُّولِيُّ: وَوَصَلَ الْخَبَرُ بِأَنَّ الْقِرْمِطِيَّ وُلِدَ لَهُ مَوْلُودٌ، فَأَهْدَى إِلَيْهِ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَرِيدِيُّ هَدَايَا عَظِيمَةً، مِنْهَا مَهْدٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، مُرَصَّعٌ بِالْجَوْهَرِ. وَكَثُرَ الرَّفْضُ بِبَغْدَادَ، فَنُودِيَ بِهَا: مَنْ ذَكَرَ أَحَدًا مِنَ الصَّحَابَةِ بِسُوءٍ فَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُ الذِّمَّةُ.
Translation
✧ Al-Ṣūlī said: News arrived that a child had been born to the Qarmaṭī, so Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Barīdī sent him magnificent gifts, among them a cradle of gold, studded with jewels. Rafḍ increased in Baghdad, so it was proclaimed there: Whoever mentions any of the Companions with evil, protection is withdrawn from him.
