Translation

✧ Mention of al-Ḥasan b. al-Fayrūzān's seizure of Jurjān Al-Ḥasan b. al-Fayrūzān was the paternal uncle of Mākān b. Kālī, and he was close to him in bravery. When Mākān was killed, Washmakīr corresponded with him so that he would enter his obedience, but he did not do so. He was in the city of Sāriyah, and he began to revile Washmakīr, accusing him of collusion in the killing of Mākān. Washmakīr then marched against him, so al-Ḥasan traveled from Sāriyah to Abū ʿAlī, the commander of the armies of Khurāsān, seeking his aid. Abū ʿAlī marched with him from al-Rayy and besieged Washmakīr in Sāriyah, continuing the siege until the year 331 [AH], when they made peace. Abū ʿAlī returned to Khurāsān, taking a son of Washmakīr, named Sālār, as a hostage. Al-Ḥasan b. al-Fayrūzān accompanied him, though he was averse to the peace. News reached him of the death of al-Saʿīd Naṣr b. Aḥmad, the ruler of Khurāsān. When al-Ḥasan heard that, he resolved to assassinate Abū ʿAlī. He rose against him and his army, but Abū ʿAlī survived, and al-Ḥasan plundered his baggage and took the son of Washmakīr. He returned to Jurjān and captured it, as well as al-Dāmaghān and Simnān. When Abū ʿAlī reached Naysābūr, he found Ibrāhīm b. Sīmjūr al-Dawātī holding it against him and opposing him. Envoys went back and forth between them until they made peace.
