Translation

✧ Mention of Washmakīr's Possession of Al-Rayy When Abū ʿAlī departed to Khurāsān, and what we have mentioned of al-Ḥasan befell him, and he returned to Jurjān, Washmakīr marched from Ṭabaristān to al-Rayy, and he took possession of it and seized control over it. Al-Ḥasan b. al-Fayrūzān corresponded with him to win his favor, and he returned to him his son Sālār, who had been with Abū ʿAlī as a hostage. He intended to gain strength through him against the Khurāsānians if they returned to him. Washmakīr softened his reply to him, but he did not state plainly what would contradict his established practice with Abū ʿAlī.
