Then the Year 327 AH Began
ذِكْرُ وَلَايَةِ أَبِي عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحْتَاجٍ خُرَاسَانَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ اسْتَعْمَلَ الْأَمِيرُ السَّعِيدُ نَصْرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ عَلَى خُرَاسَانَ وَجُيُوشِهَا أَبَا عَلِيٍّ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُظَفَّرِ بْنِ مُحْتَاجٍ، وَعَزَلَ أَبَاهُ وَاسْتَقْدَمَهُ إِلَى بُخَارَى. وَسَبَبُ ذَلِكَ أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ مَرِضَ مَرَضًا شَدِيدًا طَالَ بِهِ، فَأَنْفَذَ السَّعِيدَ فَأَحْضَرَ ابْنَهُ أَبَا عَلِيٍّ مِنَ الصَّغَانِيَانِ، وَاسْتَعْمَلَهُ مَكَانَ أَبِيهِ، وَسَيَّرَهُ إِلَى نَيْسَابُورَ، وَكَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِيهِ يَسْتَدْعِيهِ إِلَيْهِ، فَسَارَ عَنْ نَيْسَابُورَ، فَلَقِيَهُ وَلَدُهُ عَلَى ثَلَاثِ مَرَاحِلَ مِنْ نَيْسَابُورَ، فَعَرَّفَهُ مَا يَحْتَاجُ إِلَى مَعْرِفَتِهِ، وَسَارَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِلَى بُخَارَى مَرِيضًا، وَدَخَلَ وَلَدُهُ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ نَيْسَابُورَ أَمِيرًا فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ مِنْ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. وَكَانَ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ عَاقِلًا شُجَاعًا حَازِمًا، فَأَقَامَ بِهَا ثَلَاثَةَ أَشْهُرٍ، يَسْتَعِدُّ لِلْمَسِيرِ إِلَى جُرْجَانَ وَطَبَرِسْتَانَ، وَسَنَذْكُرُ ذَلِكَ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the governorship of Abū ʿAlī b. Muḥtāj over Khurasan In this year, the fortunate amīr Naṣr b. Aḥmad appointed Abū ʿAlī Aḥmad b. Abī Bakr Muḥammad b. al-Muẓaffar b. Muḥtāj over Khurasan and its armies, dismissed his father, and summoned him to Bukhara. The reason for this was that Abū Bakr fell severely ill and his illness lasted long. The fortunate one sent and brought his son Abū ʿAlī from al-Ṣaghāniyān, appointed him in place of his father, dispatched him to Naysābūr, and wrote to his father summoning him to himself. So he departed from Naysābūr, and his son met him three stages from Naysābūr and informed him of what he needed to know. Abū Bakr traveled to Bukhara while ill, and his son Abū ʿAlī entered Naysābūr as amīr in the month of Ramaḍān of this year. Abū ʿAlī was intelligent, brave, and resolute. He stayed there three months, preparing to march to Jurjān and Ṭabaristān. We shall mention that in the year 328.
