ذِكْرُ عَزْلِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ وَوِزَارَةِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ لَمَّا تَوَلَّى الْوَزِيرُ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الْكَرْخِيُّ، عَلَى مَا تَقَدَّمَ، رَأَى قِلَّةَ الْأَمْوَالِ وَانْقِطَاعَ الْمَوَادِّ، فَازْدَادَ عَجْزًا إِلَى عَجْزِهِ، وَضَاقَ عَلَيْهِ الْأَمْرُ. وَمَا زَالَتِ الْإِضَاقَةُ تَزِيدُ، وَطَمَعُ مَنْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْمُعَامِلِينَ فِيمَا عِنْدَهُ مِنَ الْأَمْوَالِ، وَقَطَعَ ابْنُ رَائِقٍ حِمْلَ وَاسِطَ وَالْبَصْرَةِ، وَقَطَعَ الْبَرِيدِيُّ حِمْلَ الْأَهْوَازِ وَأَعْمَالِهَا. وَكَانَ ابْنُ بُوَيْهِ قَدْ تَغَلَّبَ عَلَى فَارِسَ، فَتَحَيَّرَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، وَكَثُرَتِ الْمُطَالَبَاتُ عَلَيْهِ، وَنَقُصَتْ هَيْبَتُهُ، وَاسْتَتَرَ بَعْدَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَشْهُرٍ وَنِصْفٍ مِنْ وِزَارَتِهِ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَتَرَ اسْتَوْزَرَ الرَّاضِي أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ الْحَسَنِ، فَكَانَ فِي الْوِزَارَةِ كَأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ فِي وُقُوفِ الْحَالِ وَقِلَّةِ الْمَالِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the dismissal of Abū Jaʿfar and the vizierate of Sulaymān b. al-Ḥasan When the vizier Abū Jaʿfar al-Karkhī assumed office, as previously mentioned, he saw the scarcity of funds and the interruption of revenues, and thus his incapacity increased upon his incapacity, and the matter became constraining for him. The scarcity continued to increase, and the greed of those agents before him for the funds in his possession grew. Ibn Rāʾiq cut off the remittance from Wāsiṭ and al-Baṣrah, and al-Barīdī cut off the remittance from al-Ahwāz and its districts. Ibn Buwayh had already overpowered Fārs, so Abū Jaʿfar became bewildered, demands upon him multiplied, his prestige diminished, and he went into hiding after three and a half months of his vizierate. When he went into hiding, al-Rāḍī appointed Abū al-Qāsim Sulaymān b. al-Ḥasan as vizier, and he was in the vizierate like Abū Jaʿfar with regard to the stagnation of affairs and the scarcity of funds.
