Then the Year 323 AH Began
وَفِيهَا كَانَ بِخُرَاسَانَ غَلَاءٌ شَدِيدٌ، وَمَاتَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا خَلْقٌ كَثِيرٌ مِنَ الْجُوعِ، فَعَجَزَ النَّاسُ عَنْ دَفْنِهِمْ، فَكَانُوا يَجْمَعُونَ الْغُرَبَاءَ وَالْفُقَرَاءَ فِي دَارٍ إِلَى أَنْ يَتَهَيَّأَ لَهُمْ تَكْفِينُهُمْ وَدَفْنُهُمْ.
Translation
✧ In this year there was a severe famine in Khurāsān, and a great number of its people died of hunger. People were unable to bury them, so they would gather the strangers and the poor in a house until their shrouding and burial could be arranged.
