قَالَ الْبُخَارِيُّ وعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ رَغَسَهُ اللَّهُ مَالًا فَقَالَ لِبَنِيهِ لَمَّا حُضِرَ: أَيَّ أَبٍ كُنْتُ لَكُمْ ؟ قَالُوا: خَيْرَ أَبٍ. قَالَ: فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَعْمَلْ خَيْرًا قَطُّ فَاذَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي، ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي، ثُمَّ اذْرُونِي فِي يَوْمٍ عَاصِفٍ. فَفَعَلُوا فَجَمَعَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَقَالَ: مَا حَمَلَكَ ؟ قَالَ: مَخَافَتُكَ. فَتَلَقَّاهُ بِرَحْمَتِهِ. وَرَوَاهُ فِي مَوَاضِعَ أُخَرَ، وَمُسْلِمٌ مِنْ طُرُقٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ بِهِ. وعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُدَايِنُ النَّاسَ ، فَكَانَ يَقُولُ لِفَتَاهُ: إِذَا أَتَيْتَ مُعْسِرًا فَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْهُ لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَتَجَاوَزَ عَنَّا. قَالَ: فَلَقِيَ اللَّهَ فَتَجَاوَزَ عَنْهُ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ فِي مَوَاضِعَ أُخَرَ، وَمُسْلِمٌ مِنْ طَرِيقِ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِهِ.
Translation
✧ Al-Bukhārī said: And on the authority of Abū Saʿīd, from the Prophet ﷺ: “There was a man before you whom Allah had granted abundant wealth. When death approached, he said to his sons: ‘What kind of father was I to you?’ They said: ‘The best of fathers.’ He said: ‘I have never done any good. So when I die, burn me, then crush me, then scatter me on a windy day.’ They did so, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, gathered him together and said: ‘What made you do this?’ He said: ‘Fear of You.’ So He received him with His mercy.” He narrated it in other places, and Muslim from multiple routes on the authority of Qatādah, from him. And on the authority of Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, he said: “There was a man who used to lend money to people, and he would say to his servant: ‘When you come to someone in straitened circumstances, overlook it, perhaps Allah will overlook our faults.’ He said: Then he met Allah, and He overlooked his faults.” He narrated it in other places, and Muslim by way of al-Zuhrī, from him.
