Then the Year 322 AH Began
وَفِيهَا أَحْضَرَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ مِقْسَمٍ بِبَغْدَاذَ فِي دَارِ سَلَامَةَ الْحَاجِبِ، وَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ قَدِ ابْتَدَعَ قِرَاءَةً لَمْ تُعْرَفْ، وَأَحْضَرَ ابْنَ مُجَاهِدٍ وَالْقُضَاةَ وَالْقُرَّاءَ وَنَاظَرُوهُ، فَاعْتَرَفَ بِالْخَطَأِ وَتَابَ مِنْهُ، وَأُحْرِقَتْ كُتُبُهُ.
Translation
✧ In this year, Abū Bakr b. Miqsam was brought before [the authorities] in Baghdād, at the house of Salāmah al-Ḥājib. It was said to him that he had introduced an unprecedented reading [of the Qurʾān]. Ibn Mujāhid, the judges, and the reciters were also brought, and they debated with him. He acknowledged his error and repented of it, and his books were burned.
