ذِكْرُ الْقَبْضِ عَلَى طَرِيفٍ السُّبْكَرِيِّ لَمَّا تَمَكَّنَ الْقَاهِرُ، وَقَبَضَ عَلَى مُؤْنِسٍ وَأَصْحَابِهِ، وَقَتَلَهُمْ، لَمْ يَقِفْ عَلَى الْيَمِينِ وَالْأَمَانِ اللَّذَيْنِ كَتَبَهُمَا لِطَرِيفٍ، وَكَانَ الْقَاهِرُ يُسْمِعُ طَرِيفًا مَا يَكْرَهُ، وَيَسْتَخِفُّ بِهِ، وَيَعْرِضُ لَهُ بِالْأَذَى، فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ خَافَهُ، وَتَيَقَّنَ الْقَبْضَ عَلَيْهِ وَالْقَتْلَ، فَوَصَّى وَفَرَغَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ مَا يُرِيدُهُ. وَاشْتَغَلَ الْقَاهِرُ عَنْهُ بِقَبْضِ مَنْ قَبَضَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ وَزِيرٍ وَغَيْرِهِ، ثُمَّ أَحْضَرَهُ بَعْدَ أَنْ قَبَضَ عَلَى وَزِيرِهِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، فَقَبَضَ عَلَيْهِ، فَتَيَقَّنَ الْقَتْلَ أُسْوَةً بِمَنْ قُتِلَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ وَرُفَقَائِهِ، فَبَقِيَ مَحْبُوسًا يَتَوَقَّعُ الْقَتْلَ صَبَاحًا وَمَسَاءً إِلَى أَنْ خُلِعَ الْقَاهِرُ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the arrest of Ṭarīf al-Subkarī When al-Qāhir became established and arrested Muʾnis and his companions and killed them, he did not abide by the oath and guarantee of safety that he had written for Ṭarīf. Al-Qāhir used to make Ṭarīf hear what he disliked, treated him with contempt, and exposed him to harm. When Ṭarīf saw that, he feared him and was certain that he would be arrested and killed, so he made his will and completed all that he wanted. Al-Qāhir was distracted from him by the arrest of those he arrested, including the vizier and others. Then he summoned him after he had arrested his vizier Abū Jaʿfar, and arrested him. He was certain of death, following the example of those of his companions and associates who had been killed. He remained imprisoned, expecting death morning and evening, until al-Qāhir was deposed.
