the accounts of past peoples from the Israelites and others

Translation

✧ Al-Bukhārī said with his chain of narration on the authority of ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A woman was punished on account of a cat which she imprisoned until it died, so she entered the Fire because of it. She neither fed it nor gave it drink when she confined it, nor did she leave it to eat from the vermin of the earth.” And likewise Muslim narrated it from ʿAbd Allāh b. Muḥammad b. Asmāʾ with this chain.
