Then the Year 320 AH of the Hijrah Began
ذِكْرُ عَزْلِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنِ الْوِزَارَةِ وَفِيهَا عُزِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنِ الْوِزَارَةِ. وَسَبَبُ ذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ ضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْأَمْوَالُ، وَكَثُرَتِ الْإِخْرَاجَاتُ، فَاسْتَسْلَفَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ جُمْلَةً وَافِرَةً أَخْرَجَهَا فِي سَنَةِ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ، فَأَنْهَى هَارُونُ بْنُ غَرِيبٍ ذَلِكَ إِلَى الْمُقْتَدِرِ، فَرَتَّبَ مَعَهُ الْخَصِيبِيَّ، فَلَمَّا تَوَلَّى مَعَهُ نَظَرَ فِي أَعْمَالِهِ، فَرَآهُ قَدْ عَمِلَ حِسْبَةً إِلَى الْمُقْتَدِرِ لَيْسَ فِيهَا عَلَيْهِ وَجْهٌ، وَمَوَّهَ وَأَظْهَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلْمُقْتَدِرِ، فَأَمَرَ بِجَمْعِ الْكُتَّابِ وَكَشْفِ الْحَالِ، فَحَضَرُوا وَاعْتَرَفُوا بِصِدْقِ الْخَصِيبِيِّ بِذَلِكَ، وَقَابَلُوا الْوَزِيرَ بِذَلِكَ، فَقَبَضَ عَلَيْهِ فِي شَهْرِ رَبِيعٍ الْآخَرِ، وَكَانَتْ وِزَارَتُهُ سَبْعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَاسْتَوْزَرَ الْمُقْتَدِرُ أَبَا الْفَتْحِ الْفَضْلَ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ، وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهِ الْحُسَيْنَ، فَلَمْ يُؤَاخِذْهُ بِإِسَاءَتِهِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the dismissal of al-Ḥusayn from the vizierate In it al-Ḥusayn b. al-Qāsim was dismissed from the vizierate. The reason for that was that funds became tight for him and expenditures multiplied, so in this year he borrowed in advance a substantial sum which he disbursed in the year 319 AH. Hārūn b. Gharīb reported that to al-Muqtadir, so he appointed al-Khaṣībī alongside him. When he took office with him, he examined his accounts and saw that he had drawn up a reckoning for al-Muqtadir in which there was no case against him, and he falsified and presented that to al-Muqtadir. So he ordered the secretaries to be assembled and the situation to be investigated. They attended and acknowledged the truth of al-Khaṣībī's statement on that matter, and they confronted the vizier with it. He was arrested in the month of Rabīʿ al-Ākhir. His vizierate had lasted seven months. Al-Muqtadir appointed Abū al-Fatḥ al-Faḍl b. Jaʿfar as vizier and handed al-Ḥusayn over to him, but he did not hold him to account for his misconduct.
