Translation

✧ Mention of Several Events In the year three hundred and fifteen, Ibrāhīm b. al-Mismaʿī died of an acute fever, and his death was at al-Nūbandajān, so al-Muqtadir appointed Yāqūt in his place over Fārs, and appointed Abū Ṭāhir Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Ṣamad in his place over Kirmān, and bestowed robes of honor upon them both. In this year, the cavalry rioted in Baghdādh, went out to the musallā, plundered the palace known as al-Thurayyā, and slaughtered the wild animals that were in it. Muʾnis went out to them and guaranteed their stipends, so they returned to their dwellings. In this year, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Nāṣir li-Dīn Allāh the Umayyad, ruler of al-Andalus, gained victory over the people of Ṭulayṭila. He had besieged it for a period because of a rebellion against him within it. When he gained victory over them, he destroyed much of its buildings and ruined it, and it was at that time an abode of Islam. In this year, the Bedouins headed for the cultivated land of al-Kūfa, plundered it, laid it waste, and entered al-Ḥīra and plundered it. The caliph dispatched an army against them, and they drove them away from the lands. In this year, in Rabīʿ al-Awwal, a great star fell, and it produced a loud sound at two hours remaining of the day. In this year, in Jumādā al-Ākhira, much of al-Ruṣāfa, Waṣīf al-Jawharī, and Murabbaʿat al-Khursī in Baghdādh burned. And in Shaʿbān, thirteen captives from the Byzantines entered Baghdādh, taken from Jerusalem, among them relatives of the king. And in Jumādā al-Ūlā, a strangler was arrested who had killed a number of women; because he claimed that he knew love magic and astrology, women sought him out for that. When he was alone with a woman, he would go to her and strangle her with a bowstring, and his wife assisted him in that. Then he would dig a grave for her in his house and bury her. When that house was full, he would move from it to another. When he was exposed, seventeen women were found in his house whom he had strangled. Then the houses he had lived in were searched, and they found many women who had been killed. He was lashed a thousand times, then crucified alive until he died, may God disfigure him.
