Then the Year 314 AH Began
الْحَرْبِ بَيْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَمْدَانَ وَالْأَكْرَادِ وَالْعَرَبِ وَفِي سَنَةُ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ أَفْسَدَ الْأَكْرَادُ وَالْعَرَبُ بِأَرْضِ الْمَوْصِلِ وَطَرِيقِ خُرَاسَانَ، وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حَمْدَانَ يَتَوَلَّى الْجَمِيعَ وَهُوَ بِبَغْدَاذَ، وَابْنُهُ نَاصِرُ الدَّوْلَةِ بِالْمَوْصِلِ، فَكَتَبَ ( إِلَيْهِ أَبُوهُ ) يَأْمُرُهُ بِجَمْعِ الرِّجَالِ، وَالِانْحِدَارِ إِلَى تَكْرِيتَ، فَفَعَلَ ( وَسَارَ إِلَيْهَا ) فَوَصَلَ إِلَيْهَا فِي رَمَضَانَ وَاجْتَمَعَ بِأَبِيهِ، وَأَحْضَرَ الْعَرَبَ، وَطَالَبَهُمْ بِمَا أَحْدَثُوا فِي عَمَلِهِ بَعْدَ أَنْ قَتَلَ مِنْهُمْ، وَنَكَّلَ بِبَعْضِهِمْ فَرَدُّوا عَلَى النَّاسِ شَيْئًا كَثِيرًا، وَرَحَلَ بِهِمْ إِلَى شَهْرَزُورَ، فَوَطِئَ الْأَكْرَادُ الْجَلَالِيَّةَ، ( فَقَاتَلَهُمْ، وَانْضَافَ إِلَيْهِمْ غَيْرُهُمْ، فَاشْتَدَّتْ شَوْكَتُهُمْ، ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ ) انْقَادُوا إِلَيْهِ لَمَّا رَأَوْا قُوَّتَهُ، وَكَفُّوا عَنِ الْفَسَادِ وَالشَّرِّ.
Translation
✧ The war between ʿAbd Allāh b. Ḥamdān and the Kurds and Arabs In the year 314 AH, the Kurds and Arabs wrought corruption in the land of al-Mawṣil and on the Khurasan road. ʿAbd Allāh b. Ḥamdān was in charge of all of it while he was in Baghdad, and his son Nāṣir al-Dawlah was in al-Mawṣil. His father wrote to him, ordering him to gather men and to go down to Tikrīt. He did so and traveled there, arriving in Ramaḍān, and met with his father. He brought the Arabs and demanded from them what they had perpetrated in his province, after killing some of them and making an example of others, so they returned a great deal to the people. He then moved with them to Shahrazūr, where he attacked the Jalālī Kurds. He fought them, and others joined them, so their strength intensified. Then they submitted to him when they saw his power, and they desisted from corruption and evil.
