Then the Year 313 AH Began
مَا فَتَحَهُ أَهْلُ صِقِلِّيَةَ فِي سَنَةُ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ سَارَ جَيْشُ صِقِلِّيَةَ مَعَ أَمِيرِهِمْ سَالِمِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ وَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِمُ الْمَهْدِيُّ جَيْشًا مِنْ إِفْرِيقِيَّةَ، فَسَارَ إِلَى أَرْضِ أَنْكَبْرَدَةَ، فَفَتَحُوا غَيْرَانَ وَأَبْرَجَةَ، وَغَنِمُوا غَنَائِمَ كَثِيرَةً، وَعَادَ جَيْشُ صِقِلِّيَةَ، وَسَارُوا إِلَى أَرْضِ قِلُّورِيَةَ، وَقَصَدُوا مَدِينَةَ طَارَنْتَ، فَحَصَرُوهَا وَفَتَحُوهَا بِالسَّيْفِ ( فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ، وَوَصَلُوا إِلَى مَدِينَةِ أَدْرَنْتَ، فَحَصَرُوهَا )، وَخَرَّبُوا مَنَازِلَهَا فَأَصَابَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مَرَضٌ شَدِيدٌ كَبِيرٌ، فَعَادُوا، وَلَمْ يَزَلْ أَهْلُ صِقِلِّيَةَ يُغِيرُونَ عَلَى مَا بِأَيْدِي الرُّومِ مِنْ جَزِيرَةِ صِقِلِّيَةَ، وَقِلُّورِيَةَ، وَيَنْهَبُونَ وَيُخَرِّبُونَ.
Translation
✧ What the people of Sicily conquered In the year three hundred and thirteen, the army of Sicily marched with their commander Sālim b. Rāshid, and al-Mahdī sent to them an army from Ifrīqiya. He marched to the land of Ankabarda, and they conquered Ghayrān and Abraja, and they gained much booty. The army of Sicily returned, and they marched to the land of Qillūriya, and they headed for the city of Ṭārant, and they besieged it and conquered it by the sword in the month of Ramaḍān, and they reached the city of Adrant, and they besieged it, and they destroyed its dwellings. A severe, great illness befell the Muslims, so they returned. The people of Sicily continued to raid what was in the hands of the Byzantines of the island of Sicily and Qillūriya, and they plundered and destroyed.
