Translation

✧ Victory over the Byzantines In the year two hundred and seventy, the Byzantines came out in one hundred thousand and encamped at Qalamya, which is six miles from Tarsus. Bazman went out to them at night and ambushed them in Rabi' al-Awwal, killing, it is said, seventy thousand of them. He killed their commander, the Patrician of the Patricians, and also killed the Patrician of the Qabaziq and the Patrician of the Nataliq. The Patrician of Qurra escaped with several wounds. He seized seven crosses of gold and silver from them, their greatest cross being of gold encrusted with jewels. He took fifteen thousand beasts of burden, along with saddles and other things, ornamented swords, four chairs of gold, two hundred chairs of silver, many vessels, about ten thousand banners of silk brocade, much brocade (bazyun), and other things. The muster to Andriyas was on Tuesday, seven nights having passed of Rabi' al-Awwal. To God be praise and grace, first and last.
