Translation
✧ What happened this year in al-Andalus In the year two hundred and fifty-nine, Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Umawī, the ruler of al-Andalus, marched to Ṭulayṭilah, encamped at it, and besieged it. Its people had rebelled against him. They sought a guarantee of safety, so he granted them safety and took their hostages. In it, the people of Ṭulayṭilah went out to the fortress of Sakyān, in which were seven hundred men of the Berbers, while the people of Ṭulayṭilah were ten thousand. When the battle between them became fierce, one of the leaders of its people, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ḥabīb, fled, and the people of Ṭulayṭilah followed him in flight. He fled only because of enmity between him and another leader named Ṭurayshah from the people of Ṭulayṭilah; he wanted to weaken him in that. When they fled, they killed al-Birqīl (?). In it, ʿAmr b. ʿAmrūs returned to obedience to Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. He had been in opposition to him for several years. He appointed him over the city of Amashqah, and Muḥammad besieged the fortresses of Banū Mūsā. Then he advanced to Banbalūnah, trampled its land, and returned.
