ذِكْرُ عِدَّةِ حَوَادِثَ وَفِيهَا وَقَعَ الْوَبَاءُ فِي كُوَرِ دِجْلَةَ ، فَهَلَكَ مِنْهَا خَلْقٌ كَثِيرٌ بِبَغْدَاذَ، وَوَاسِطَ، وَسَامَرَّا، وَغَيْرِهَا. وَفِيهَا قُتِلَ سِرِسْجَارِسُ بِبِلَادِ الرُّومِ مَعَ جَمَاعَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ. وَفِيهَا كَانَتْ هَدَّةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ هَائِلَةٌ بِالصَّيْمَرَةِ، ثُمَّ سُمِعَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ هَدَّةٌ أَعْظَمُ مِنَ الْأُولَى، فَانْهَدَمَ أَكْثَرُ الْمَدِينَةِ، وَتَسَاقَطَتِ الْحِيطَانُ، وَهَلَكَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا زُهَاءُ عِشْرِينَ أَلْفًا. وَفِيهَا مَاتَ يَارْكُوجُ التُّرْكِيُّ فِي رَمَضَانَ، وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ أَبُو عِيسَى بْنُ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ، وَكَانَ صَاحِبَ مِصْرَ، وَمُقْطِعَهَا، وَدُعِيَ لَهُ فِيهَا قَبْلَ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ طُولُونَ، فَلَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ اسْتَقَلَّ أَحْمَدُ بِمِصْرَ. وَفِيهَا كَانَتْ وَقْعَةٌ بَيْنَ ( أَصْحَابِ ) مُوسَى بْنِ بُغَا وَأَصْحَابِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ الْعَلَوِيِّ، فَانْهَزَمَ أَصْحَابُ الْحَسَنِ. وَفِيهَا أَسَرَ مَسْرُورٌ الْبَلْخِيُّ جَمَاعَةً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُسَاوِرٍ الشَّارِيِّ، وَسَارَ مَسْرُورٌ إِلَى الْبَوَازِيجِ، فَلَقِيَ مُسَاوِرًا هُنَاكَ، فَكَانَ فِيهَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَقْعَةٌ أُسِرَ فِيهَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مَسْرُورٍ جَمَاعَةٌ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فِي ذِي الْحِجَّةِ إِلَى سَامَرَّا، وَاسْتَخْلَفَ عَلَى عَسْكَرِهِ بِحَدِيثَةِ الْمَوْصِلِ جُعْلَانَ. وَفِيهَا رَجَعَ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ مِنَ الْقَرْعَاءِ خَوْفَ الْعَطَشِ، وَسَلِمَ مَنْ سَارَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ، وَحَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ. ( وَفِيهَا أُوقِعَ بِأَعْرَابٍ بِتِكْرِيتَ كَانُوا أَعَانُوا مُسَاوِرًا الشَّارِيَّ ). وَفِيهَا أَوْقَعَ مَسْرُورٌ الْبَلْخِيُّ بِالْأَكْرَادِ الْيَعْقُوبِيَّةِ، فَهَزَمَهُمْ، وَأَصَابَ فِيهَا. وَفِيهَا صَارَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَاصِلٍ فِي طَاعَةِ السُّلْطَانِ، وَسَلَّمَ فَارِسَ إِلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْفَيَّاضِ. وَفِي رَبِيعٍ الْآخَرِ مِنْهَا وَصَلَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْبَاهِلِيُّ إِلَى بَابِ السُّلْطَانِ، فَضُرِبَ سَبْعَمِائَةِ سَوْطٍ حَتَّى مَاتَ، ثُمَّ صُلِبَ. وَفِيهَا قُتِلَ قَاضٍ وَأَرْبَعَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ صَاحِبِ الزَّنْجِ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْعَامَّةِ بِسَامَرَّا. وَفِيهَا رَجَعَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ وَاصِلٍ إِلَى طَاعَةِ السُّلْطَانِ، وَحَمَلِ خَرَاجَ فَارِسَ وَتَمَهَّدَتِ الْأُمُورُ هُنَاكَ، وَاسْتَقَلَّتْ عَلَى السَّدَادِ. وَفِي يَوْمِ الْخَمِيسِ لِسَبْعٍ خَلَوْنَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، أُخِذَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَابِ الْعَامَّةِ بِسَامَرَّا ذُكِرَ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ يَسُبُّ السَّلَفَ، فَضُرِبَ أَلْفَ سَوْطٍ حَتَّى مَاتَ.
Translation
✧ Mention of Several Events In this year, the epidemic occurred in the districts of the Tigris, and many creatures perished from it in Baghdādh, Wāsiṭ, Sāmarrā, and elsewhere. In this year, Sirisjāris was killed in the land of the Byzantines along with a large group of his companions. In this year, there was a great, dreadful crash at al-Ṣaymarah, then after that day a crash greater than the first was heard, and most of the city collapsed, the walls fell down, and about twenty thousand of its inhabitants perished. In this year, Yārkūj the Turk died in Ramaḍān, and Abū ʿĪsā b. al-Mutawakkil prayed over him. He was the governor of Miṣr and its fief-holder, and he was invoked for there before Aḥmad b. Ṭūlūn. When he died, Aḥmad became independent in Miṣr. In this year, there was a battle between the followers of Mūsā b. Bughā and the followers of al-Ḥasan b. Zayd the ʿAlawī, and the followers of al-Ḥasan were defeated. In this year, Masrūr al-Balkhī captured a group of the followers of Musāwir al-Shārī, and Masrūr marched to al-Bawāzīj. He met Musāwir there, and between them there was a battle in which a group of Masrūr's followers was captured. Then he departed in Dhū al-Ḥijjah to Sāmarrā, and he appointed Juʿlān as his deputy over his army at Ḥadīthat al-Mawṣil. In this year, most of the people returned from al-Qarʿāʾ fearing thirst, and those who traveled to Makkah were safe. Al-Faḍl b. Isḥāq b. al-Ḥasan led the people in the pilgrimage. (And in this year, a raid was made upon Bedouins at Tikrīt who had aided Musāwir al-Shārī). In this year, Masrūr al-Balkhī made a raid upon the Jacobite Kurds, defeated them, and took spoils among them. In this year, Muḥammad b. Wāṣil came into obedience to the sultan, and he delivered Fārs to Muḥammad b. al-Ḥasan b. Abī al-Fayyāḍ. In Rabīʿ al-Ākhir of this year, Saʿīd b. Aḥmad al-Bāhilī arrived at the sultan's gate, and he was struck with seven hundred lashes until he died, then he was crucified. In this year, a judge and twenty-four men from the followers of the leader of the Zanj were killed at the Gate of the Commoners in Sāmarrā. In this year, Muḥammad b. Wāṣil returned to obedience to the sultan and conveyed the land tax of Fārs, and affairs there became settled and established upon soundness. On Thursday, seven nights having passed of Ramaḍān, a man was seized at the Gate of the Commoners in Sāmarrā, and it was mentioned of him that he reviled the early generations. He was struck with a thousand lashes until he died.
