Translation
✧ In this year, al-Maʾmūn returned to Salaghūs, and he dispatched his son al-ʿAbbās to Ṭuwānah and ordered him to build it. He had already dispatched the workmen, and they began its construction: one mile by one mile. He made its wall three farsakhs long, and he made for it four gates, and he placed a fortress at every gate. He wrote to the provinces that they should levy from every district a group to move to Ṭuwānah, and he allotted for each horseman one hundred dirhams, and for each foot soldier forty dirhams.
