The story of ʿĪsā b. Maryam (peace be upon him)
ذِكْرُ حَالِ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عِنْدَ نُزُولِهِ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ رَوَى أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ عِيسَى، فَقَالَ: " إِنَّهُ نَازِلٌ يَدُقُّ الصَّليِبَ، وَيَقْتُلُ الْخِنْزِيرَ، وَيَضَعُ الْجِزْيَةَ، وَيُفِيضُ الْمَالَ، وَيُقَاتِلُ النَّاسَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، فَيُهْلِكُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فِي زَمَانِهِ مَسِيحَ الضَّلَالَةِ الدَّجَّالَ الْكَذَّابَ ، وَيَقَعُ الْأَمْنُ فِي الْأَرْضِ حَتَّى يَرْعَى الْأَسَدُ مَعَ الْإِبِلِ، وَالنَّمِرُ مَعَ الْبَقَرِ، وَالذِّئَابُ مَعَ الْغَنَمِ، وَيَلْعَبُ الصِّبْيَانُ بِالْحَيَّاتِ، لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ شَيْئًا، فَيَمْكُثُ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَهً، ثُمَّ يُتَوَفَّى وَيُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ". وَرَوَى النَّوَّاسُ بْنُ سَمْعَانَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " يَنْزِلُ عِيسَى عَلَى الْمَنَارَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ شَرْقِيَّ دِمَشْقَ ". وَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ: " مَكْتُوبٌ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ صِفَةُ مُحَمَّدٍ يُدْفَنُ مَعَهُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ ". وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: " يَنْزِلُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ فَيَتَزَوَّجُ وَيُولَدُ لَهُ، وَيَمْكُثُ خَمْسًا وَأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً، ثُمَّ يَمُوتُ فَيُدْفَنُ مَعِي فِي قَبْرِي، فَأَقُومُ أَنَا وَعِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ مِنْ قَبْرٍ وَاحِدٍ بَيْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ ".
Translation
✧ Mention of the state of ʿĪsā ﷺ at his descent from heaven Abū Hurayrah narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he mentioned ʿĪsā and said: "He will descend, break the cross, kill the pig, abolish the jizyah, pour forth wealth, and fight the people for Islam. In his time, Allah the Exalted will destroy the false messiah, the lying Dajjāl, and security will prevail on earth, so that the lion will graze with camels, the leopard with cattle, and wolves with sheep, and children will play with snakes without any harm. He will remain on earth for forty years, then he will die and the believers will pray over him." Al-Nawwās b. Samʿān narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: "ʿĪsā will descend upon the white minaret east of Damascus." ʿAbd Allāh b. Salām said: "In the Torah is written the description of Muḥammad; ʿĪsā son of Maryam (peace be upon them both) will be buried with him." From ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "ʿĪsā son of Maryam ﷺ will descend to the earth, marry, have children, remain forty-five years, then die and be buried with me in my grave. I and ʿĪsā son of Maryam will rise from a single grave between Abū Bakr and ʿUmar."
