Translation
✧ Then the year 207 AH began. Mention of the rising of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Aḥmad in Yemen In this year, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Aḥmad b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Muḥammad b. ʿUmar b. ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib ؓ rose in the lands of ʿAkk in Yemen, calling for acceptance of the one pleasing from the family of Muḥammad ﷺ. The reason for his rising was that the officials in Yemen behaved badly towards them, so they pledged allegiance to this ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. When al-Maʾmūn learned of that, he dispatched Dīnār b. ʿAbd Allāh with a dense army, and wrote with him a guarantee of safe conduct for him. Dīnār attended the pilgrimage season and performed the ḥajj. Then he marched to Yemen and sent to ʿAbd al-Raḥmān his guarantee of safe conduct. He accepted it, entered into obedience to al-Maʾmūn, and placed his hand in the hand of Dīnār, who brought him out to al-Maʾmūn. At that point al-Maʾmūn forbade the Ṭālibīs from entering his presence and commanded them to wear black, and that was when two nights remained of Dhū al-Qaʿdah.
