Translation
✧ In this year: Muḥammad b. Hārūn b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Ṣāliḥ b. ʿAlī took charge of Syria, and he was ordered to set out to it. Troops were levied for him from its men, by means of whom Ṭāhir and Harthama were to be pursued. He marched until he reached al-Raqqah, and he stayed there. He sent his letters and messengers to the chiefs of the Syrian armies and the notables of al-Jazīrah, and they came to him. He gave them gifts, bestowed robes of honor upon them, and provided them mounts. Then disputes occurred among the soldiers, and they fought one another and dispersed.
