وَفِيهَا: تَوَجَّهَ طَاهِرُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ إِلَى الْأَهْوَازِ ، فَخَرَجَ عَامِلُهَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ يَحْمِيهَا فَقُتِلَ، وَأَقَامَ طَاهِرٌ بِالْأَهْوَازِ، وَأَنْفَذَ عُمَّالَهُ إِلَى كَوْرِهَا. وَوَلِيَ الْيَمَامَةَ وَالْبَحْرَيْنِ وَعُمَانَ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ عَلَى طَرِيقِ الْبَرِّ مُتَوَجِّهًا إِلَى وَاسِطَ، فَدَخَلَهَا وَهَرَبَ عَامِلُهَا، وَوَجَّهَ قَائِدًا مِنْ قُوَّادِهِ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ وَعَلَيْهَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْهَادِي، فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ الْعَبَّاسَ الْخَبَرُ خَلَعَ مُحَمَّدًا، وَكَتَبَ بِطَاعَتِهِ إِلَى طَاهِرٍ وَبَيْعَتِهِ، وَكَتَبَ مَنْصُورُ بْنُ الْمَهْدِي وَهُوَ عَامِلُ الْبَصْرَةِ إِلَى طَاهِرٍ بِطَاعَتِهِ، فَنَزَلَ حَتَّى طَرْنَايَا، وَأَمَرَ بِجِسْرٍ فَعَقَدَ، وَأُنْفِذَتْ كُتُبُهُ بِالتَّوْلِيَةِ إِلَى الْعُمَّالِ، وَبَايَعَ الْمُطَلِّبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ بِالْمَوْصِلِ لِلْمَأْمُونِ، فَكَانَ خَلْعُهُمْ فِي رَجَبٍ، فَلَمَّا كَتَبُوا بِخَلْعِهِمْ مُحَمَّدًا أَقَرَّهُمُ الْمَأْمُونُ عَلَى أَعْمَالِهِمْ، وَوَلَّى دَاوُدَ بْنَ عِيسَى بْنِ مُوسَى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَى مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ، وَيَزِيدَ بْنَ جَرِيرٍ الْبَجَلِيَّ الْيَمَنَ، وَوَجَّهَ الْحَارِثَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ إِلَى قَصْرِ ابْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ.
Translation
✧ In this year: Ṭāhir b. al-Ḥusayn set out toward al-Ahwāz. Its governor, Muḥammad b. Yazīd al-Muhallabī, came out to defend it and was killed. Ṭāhir stayed in al-Ahwāz and dispatched his agents to its districts. He was also in charge of al-Yamāmah, al-Baḥrayn, and ʿUmān. Then he took the land route heading to Wāsiṭ, entered it, and its governor fled. He sent one of his commanders to al-Kūfah, where al-ʿAbbās b. Mūsā al-Hādī was in charge. When the news reached al-ʿAbbās, he renounced Muḥammad, wrote to Ṭāhir of his obedience and allegiance to him, and Manṣūr b. al-Mahdī, who was governor of al-Baṣrah, wrote to Ṭāhir of his obedience. He encamped at Ṭarnāyā, ordered a bridge, and it was built. His letters of appointment were sent to the governors. Al-Muṭṭalib b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Mālik in al-Mawṣil gave allegiance to al-Maʾmūn. Their renunciation was in Rajab. When they wrote of their renunciation of Muḥammad, al-Maʾmūn confirmed them in their posts. He appointed Dāwūd b. ʿĪsā b. Mūsā b. Muḥammad over Makkah and al-Madīnah, and Yazīd b. Jarīr al-Bajalī over al-Yaman, and he sent al-Ḥārith b. Hishām to Qaṣr Ibn Hubayrah.
