ذِكْرُ اسْتِيلَاءِ طَاهِرٍ عَلَى أَعْمَالِ الْجَبَلِ لَمَّا نَزَلَ طَاهِرٌ بِبَابِ هَمَذَانَ، وَحَصَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بِهَا، تَخَوَّفَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُ كَثِيرُ بْنُ قَادِرَةَ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ، وَكَانَ بِقَزْوِينَ، فَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ بِالْقِيَامِ، وَسَارَ فِي أَلْفِ فَارِسٍ نَحْوَ قَزْوِينَ، فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ بِهِ كَثِيرُ بْنُ قَادِرَةَ، وَكَانَ فِي جَيْشٍ كَثِيفٍ، هَرَبَ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَأَخْلَى قَزْوِينَ، وَجَعَلَ طَاهِرٌ فِيهَا جُنْدًا، وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَيْهَا رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَمْنَعَ مَنْ أَرَادَ دُخُولَهَا، وَاسْتَوْلَى عَلَى سَائِرِ أَعْمَالِ الْجَبَلِ مَعَهَا.
Translation
✧ Mention of Ṭāhir’s taking control of the districts of al-Jabal When Ṭāhir encamped at the gate of Hamadhān and besieged ʿAbd al-Raḥmān therein, he feared that Kathīr b. Qādirah might come upon him from behind, as he was in Qazwīn. So he ordered his companions to arise, and he marched with a thousand horsemen toward Qazwīn. When Kathīr b. Qādirah, who was with a dense army, heard of him, he fled before him and evacuated Qazwīn. Ṭāhir placed troops in it and appointed over it a man from among his companions, ordering him to prevent anyone who wished to enter it. Thus he took control of the rest of the districts of al-Jabal along with it.
