Translation

✧ Mention of the opposition of the people of Tunis to Ibn al-Aghlab In this year, ʿImrān b. Mujālid al-Rabīʿī and Quraysh b. al-Tūnisī rebelled in Tunis against Ibrāhīm b. al-Aghlab, the amir of Ifrīqiya. A large crowd gathered there, and Ibrāhīm b. al-Aghlab was besieged in the palace. He gathered those who obeyed him, and the people of al-Qayrawān also opposed him in Jumādā al-Ākhirah. There was a battle and fighting between them in which a group of Ibn al-Aghlab's men were killed. ʿImrān b. Mujālid advanced with those who were with him and entered al-Qayrawān on the tenth of Rajab. Quraysh came to him from Tunis, and there was a battle between them and Ibn al-Aghlab in Rajab. Ibn al-Aghlab's companions were defeated. Then they met again on the twentieth of it, and they were defeated a second time as well. (Then they met a third time also in it, and victory was for Ibn al-Aghlab. ʿImrān b. Mujālid sent to Asad b. al-Furāt the jurist to come out with them, but he refused. He sent the messenger back to him saying, "You will come out with us, or else I will send someone to drag you by your foot." Asad said to the messenger, "Tell him: By God, if I come out, I will say to the people: The killer and the killed are in the Fire." So he left him alone.)
