Translation
✧ The expedition against the Franks in al-Andalus In the year one hundred and ninety-one, Ludharīq, the king of the Franks in al-Andalus, prepared himself and gathered his forces to march to the city of Ṭarṭūshah in order to besiege it. This reached al-Ḥakam, so he assembled the armies and dispatched them with his son ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. They gathered into a mighty army, and many volunteers followed them. They marched and met the Franks on the outskirts of their lands before they could reach anything of the Muslims' territory. They fought, and each of the two parties exerted its utmost effort and exhausted its capacity. Then God—exalted is He—sent down His victory upon the Muslims, and the infidels were routed. Slaughter and captivity among them were abundant, and their wealth and baggage were plundered. The Muslims returned victorious and laden with spoils.
