The year 185 AH
وَفِي سنة خمس وثمانين ومائة مَلَكَ الْفِرِنْجُ - لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ - مَدِينَةَ بَرْشَلُونَةَ بِالْأَنْدَلُسِ، وَأَخَذُوهَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَنَقَلُوا حُمَاةَ ثُغُورِهِمْ إِلَيْهَا، وَتَأَخَّرَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِلَى وَرَائِهِمْ. وَكَانَ سَبَبَ مُلْكِهِمْ إِيَّاهَا اشْتِغَالُ الْحَكَمِ صَاحِبِ الْأَنْدَلُسِ بِمُحَارَبَةِ عَمَّيْهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَسُلَيْمَانَ، عَلَى مَا تَقَدَّمَ.
Translation
✧ In the year one hundred eighty-five, the Franks—may God curse them—took possession of the city of Barcelona in al-Andalus, seizing it from the Muslims, and they transferred the defenders of their frontiers to it, while the Muslims fell back behind them. The reason for their taking it was that al-Hakam, the ruler of al-Andalus, was preoccupied with fighting his two uncles, ʿAbd Allah and Sulayman, as has been mentioned before.
