Translation
✧ Mention of several events In the year one hundred and eighty, al-Rashīd took the seal from Jaʿfar b. ʿĪsā and handed it to his father Yaḥyā b. Khālid. In it, he appointed Jaʿfar over Khurāsān and Sijistān, then dismissed him from them after twenty nights, and appointed over them ʿĪsā b. Jaʿfar; and he appointed Jaʿfar b. Yaḥyā over the guard. In it, al-Rashīd demolished the wall of al-Mawṣil because of al-ʿAṭṭāf b. Sufyān al-Azdī. He marched to it in person, demolished its wall, and swore he would kill any of its people he met. The judge Abū Yūsuf gave him a legal opinion and forbade him from that. Al-ʿAṭṭāf had already departed from it towards Armenia, so al-Rashīd did not get him, and he went to al-Raqqah and made it a home. In it, Harthamah b. Aʿyan was dismissed from Ifrīqiyah and summoned to Baghdādh, and Jaʿfar b. Yaḥyā appointed him as his deputy over the guard. In it, there was in Egypt a great earthquake, from which the top of the minaret of Alexandria fell. (In it, Ḥurrāshah al-Shaybānī rose in al-Jazīrah, and Muslim b. Bakkār al-ʿUqaylī killed him.) In it, al-Faḍl b. Yaḥyā was dismissed from Ṭabaristān and al-Rūyān, and ʿAbd Allāh b. Khāzim was appointed over them; Saʿīd b. Salm was appointed over al-Jazīrah; and Muḥammad b. Muʿāwiyah b. Zufar b. ʿĀṣim led the summer expedition. In it, al-Rashīd went to al-Ḥīrah and built dwellings there, granting estates to his companions as fiefs. The people of al-Kūfah rose against them and treated his neighborhood badly, so he returned to Baghdādh. Mūsā b. ʿĪsā b. Mūsā b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī led the people in the pilgrimage this year. In it, al-Rashīd appointed Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Ḥarashī over al-Mawṣil. He behaved badly towards its people, oppressed them, and demanded from them the land tax of past years, so most of the people of the town fled. In it, a faction appeared in Jurjān called al-Muḥammirah. They wore red and followed a man called ʿAmrū b. Muḥammad al-ʿAmrakī, who was accused of heresy. Al-Rashīd sent orders to kill him, and he was killed in Marw, and God extinguished their fire at that time. In it, al-Rashīd ordered the building of the city of ʿAyn Zarbā and its fortress, and sent to it troops from the people of Khurāsān and others, and granted them dwellings there as fiefs.
