ذِكْرُ عِدَّةِ حَوَادِثَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَتْ سَنَةُ تِسْعٍ وَسَبْعِينَ وَمِائَةٍ فِيهَا كَانَ قُدُومُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ يَحْيَى مِنْ خُرَاسَانَ، وَقَدِ اسْتَخْلَفَ عَلَيْهَا عَمْرَو بْنَ شُرَحْبِيلَ، فَوَلَّى الرَّشِيدُ عَلَيْهَا مَنْصُورَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ الْحِمْيَرِيَّ. وَفِيهَا عَزَلَ الرَّشِيدُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ خَالِدِ بْنِ بَرْمَكَ عَنِ الْحَجَبَةِ، وَرَدَّهَا إِلَى الْفَضْلِ بْنِ رَبِيعٍ. وَفِيهَا خَرَجَ بِخُرَاسَانَ حَمْزَةُ بْنُ أَتْرَكَ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ،. وَفِيهَا خَرَجَ الرَّشِيدُ مِنْ بَغْدَادَ مُعْتَمِرًا شُكْرًا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى عُمْرَتَهُ أَقَامَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ حَتَّى حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ، فَمَشَى مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى مِنًى، ثُمَّ إِلَى عَرَفَاتٍ، وَشَهِدَ الْمَشَاهِدَ وَالْمَشَاعِرَ كُلَّهَا مَاشِيًا، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى بَغْدَادَ عَلَى طَرِيقِ الْبَصْرَةِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of several events. Then the year 179 AH began. In it, al-Faḍl b. Yaḥyā arrived from Khurāsān, having left ʿAmr b. Shuraḥbīl as his deputy over it. Al-Rashīd then appointed Manṣūr b. Yazīd b. Manṣūr al-Ḥimyarī over it. In it, al-Rashīd dismissed Muḥammad b. Khālid b. Barmak from the office of chamberlain and returned it to al-Faḍl b. Rabīʿ. In it, Ḥamza b. Atrak al-Sijistānī rose up in Khurāsān. In it, al-Rashīd left Baghdād to perform ʿumrah in gratitude to God (mighty and glorious be He). When he had completed his ʿumrah, he stayed in Madinah until he led the people in the pilgrimage this year. He walked from Makkah to Minā, then to ʿArafāt, and attended all the sacred sites and rites on foot. Then he returned to Baghdād by way of al-Baṣrah.
