مَنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ مِنَ الْأَكَابِرِ وَفِيهَا تُوُفِّيَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، وَفِيهَا تُوُفِّيَ عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَالْمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ يُونُسَ عَبْثَرُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، أَبُو زُبَيْدٍ الْكُوفِيُّ . سَمِعَ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيَّ، وَسُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيَّ، وَالْأَعْمَشَ، وَالثَّوْرِيَّ، رَوَى عَنْ قُتَيْبَةَ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً صَدُوقًا تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ.
Translation
✧ Those of the notables who died in this year: In it died Jaʿfar b. Sulaymān, and in it died ʿAbd al-Wārith b. Saʿīd, and al-Mufaḍḍal b. Yūnus ʿAbthar b. al-Qāsim, Abū Zubayd al-Kūfī. He heard Abū Isḥāq al-Shaybānī, Sulaymān al-Taymī, al-Aʿmash, and al-Thawrī. Qutaybah related from him, and he was trustworthy and truthful. He died in this year.
