وفي سَنَةُ أَرْبَعٍ وَسَبْعِينَ وَمِائَةٍ وَقَعَتْ عَصَبِيَّةٌ بِالشَّامِ وَتَخْبِيطٌ بَيْنَ أَهْلِهَا . وَفِيهَا اسْتَقْضَى الرَّشِيدُ يُوسُفَ ابْنَ الْقَاضِي أَبِي يُوسُفَ وَأَبُوهُ حَيٌّ. وَفِيهَا غَزَا الصَّائِفَةَ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، فَدَخَلَ بِلَادَ الرُّومِ . وَفِيهَا: خَرَجَ الرَّشِيدُ إِلَى الْبَصْرَةِ يُرِيدُ الْحَجَّ، فَزَادَ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْبَصْرَةِ مِمَّا يَلِي الْقِبْلَةَ، وَخَرَجَ فَبَدَأَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَقَسَّمَ فِي أَهْلِهَا مَالًا عَظِيمًا. فَلَمَّا اقْتَرَبَ مِنْ مَكَّةَ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ بِهَا وَبَاءً، فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ مَكَّةَ حَتَّى كَانَ وَقْتُ الْوُقُوفِ فَوَقَفَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةَ، ثُمَّ مِنًى، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ، فَطَافَ وَسَعَى، وَارْتَحَلَ، وَلَمْ يَنْزِلْ بِهَا. وفِيهَا اسْتَعْمَلَ الرَّشِيدُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ عَلَى السِّنْدِ وَمُكْرَانَ . وَفِيهَا هَلَكَ رَوْحُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، وَسَارَ الرَّشِيدُ آلَ الْجُودِيِّ، وَنَزَلَ بِقَرْدَى وَبَازَبْدَى مِنْ أَعْمَالِ جَزِيرَةِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، فَابْتَنَى بِهَا قَصْرًا. وَفِيهَا عُزِلَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنْ قَضَاءِ الْمَوْصِلِ، وَوَلِيَ الْقَضَاءَ بِهَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الدُّولَابِيُّ.
Translation
✧ In the year one hundred and seventy-four: There occurred factional partisanship in Syria and turmoil among its people. In it, al-Rashīd appointed Yūsuf b. al-Qāḍī Abī Yūsuf as judge while his father was still alive. In it, ʿAbd al-Malik b. Ṣāliḥ led the summer expedition, and he entered Byzantine territory. In it, al-Rashīd went out to al-Baṣrah intending to perform the pilgrimage. He extended the mosque of al-Baṣrah on the side facing the qiblah. Then he set out, beginning with al-Madīnah, and distributed among its people a great amount of wealth. When he drew near Makkah, he learned that there was an epidemic there, so he did not enter Makkah until the time of standing at ʿArafah. He stood, then came to al-Muzdalifah, then Minā, then entered Makkah, circumambulated and performed the saʿy, and departed without staying there. In it, al-Rashīd appointed Isḥāq b. Sulaymān over al-Sind and Mukrān. In it, Rawḥ b. Ḥātim died. Al-Rashīd traveled to the family of al-Jūdī, and encamped at Qardā and Bāzabdā, which are among the districts of Jazīrat Ibn ʿUmar, and built a palace there. In it, ʿAlī b. Mushir was dismissed from the judgeship of al-Mawṣil, and Ismāʿīl b. Ziyād al-Dūlābī was appointed judge there.
