ذِكْرُ عِدَّةِ حَوَادِثَ وَفِي سنة سبعين ومائة أَمَرَ الرَّشِيدُ بِسَهْمِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى أَنْ يُقَسَّمَ فِي بَنِي هَاشِمٍ عَلَى السَّوَاءِ. وَفِيهَا تَتَبَّعَ الرَّشِيدُ خَلْقًا مِنَ الزَّنَادِقَةِ، فَقَتَلَ مِنْهُمْ طَائِفَةً كَثِيرَةً. وَفِيهَا خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ. وفِيهَا وُلِدَ الْأَمِينُ مُحَمَّدٌ ابْنُ الرَّشِيدِ مِنْ زُبَيْدَةَ، وَذَلِكَ يَوْمَ الْجُمْعَةِ لِسِتَّ عَشْرَةَ لَيْلَةً خَلَتْ مِنْ شَوَّالَ مِنْ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. وَفِيهَا كَمُلَ بِنَاءُ مَدِينَةِ طَرَسُوسَ عَلَى يَدَيْ فَرَجٍ الْخَادِمِ التُّرْكِيِّ، وَنَزَلَهَا النَّاسُ. وَيُقَالُ: إِنَّهُ غَزَا فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ أَيْضًا. وَفِي ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ دَاوُدُ بْنُ رَزِينٍ الشَّاعِرُ: بِهَارُونَ لَاحَ النُّورُ فِي كُلِّ بَلْدَةٍ وَقَامَ بِهِ فِي عَدْلِ سِيرَتِهِ النَّهْجُ إِمَامٌ بِذَاتِ اللَّهِ أَصْبَحَ شُغْلُهُ وَأَكْثَرُ مَا يُعْنَى بِهِ الْغَزْوُ وَالْحَجُّ تَضِيقُ عُيُونُ النَّاسِ عَنْ نُورِ وَجْهِهِ إِذَا مَا بَدَا لِلنَّاسِ مَنْظَرُهُ الْبَلْجُ وَإِنَّ أَمِينَ اللَّهِ هَارُونَ ذَا النَّدَى يُنِيلُ الَّذِي يَرْجُوهُ أَضْعَافَ مَا يَرْجُو وَغَزَا الصَّائِفَةَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَكَّائِيُّ. وَفِيهَا تُوُفِّيَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ، وَالِي إِفْرِيقِيَّةَ، وَاسْتَخْلَفَ عَلَيْهَا ابْنَهُ دَاوُدَ، وَانْتَقَضَتْ جِبَالُ بَاجَةَ، وَخَرَجَ فِيهَا الْإِبَاضِيَّةُ فَسَيَّرَ إِلَيْهِمْ دَاوُدُ جَيْشًا، فَظَفِرَ بِهِمِ الْإِبَاضِيَّةُ، وَهَزَمُوهُمْ، فَجَهَّزَ إِلَيْهِمْ جَيْشًا آخَرَ، فَهُزِمَتِ الْإِبَاضِيَّةُ، فَتَبِعَهُمُ الْجَيْشُ، فَقَتَلُوا مِنْهُمْ، فَأَكْثَرُوا. وَبَقِيَ دَاوُدُ أَمِيرًا إِلَى أَنِ اسْتَعْمَلَ الرَّشِيدُ عَمَّهُ رَوْحَ بْنَ حَاتِمٍ الْمُهَلَّبِيَّ أَمِيرًا عَلَى إِفْرِيقِيَّةَ، وَكَانَتْ إِمَارَةُ دَاوُدَ تِسْعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ. وَفِيهَا عَزَلَ الرَّشِيدُ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْعُمَرِيَّ عَنِ الْمَدِينَةِ، عَلَى سَاكِنِهَا السَّلَامُ، وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَيْهَا إِسْحَاقَ بْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ. وَفِيهَا ظَهَرَ مَنْ كَانَ مُسْتَخْفِيًا، مِنْهُمْ طَبَاطَبَا الْعَلَوِيُّ، وَهُوَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ( وَعَلِيُّ ) بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، وَبَقِيَ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الزَّنَادِقَةِ لَمْ يَظْهَرُوا، مِنْهُمْ: يُونُسُ بْنُ فَرْوَةَ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ الْفَيْضِ. وَفِيهَا عَزَلَ الرَّشِيدُ الثُّغُورَ كُلَّهَا عَنِ الْجَزِيرَةِ وَقِنَّسْرِينَ وَجَعَلَهَا حَيِّزًا وَاحِدًا، وَسُمِّيَتِ الْعَوَاصِمَ وَفِيهَا أَوْقَعَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأُمَوِيُّ صَاحِبُ الْأَنْدَلُسِ بِبَرَابِرِ نَفْزَةَ، فَأَذَلَّهُمْ، وَقَتَلَ فِيهِمْ. وَفِيهَا أَمَرَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بِبِنَاءِ جَامِعِ قُرْطُبَةَ، وَكَانَ مَوْضِعَهُ كَنِيسَةٌ وَأَخْرَجَ عَلَيْهِ مِائَةَ أَلْفِ دِينَارٍ.
Translation
✧ Mention of several events. In the year one hundred and seventy, al-Rashīd commanded that the share of the near of kin (sahm dhī al-qurbā) be divided among the Banū Hāshim equally. In it, al-Rashīd pursued a number of the zanādiqa (heretics), and he killed a large group of them. In it, one of the ahl al-bayt (family of the Prophet) rose against him. In it, al-Amīn Muḥammad, son of al-Rashīd, was born to Zubaydah, and that was on Friday, sixteen nights having passed of Shawwāl of this year. In it, the building of the city of Ṭarsūs was completed at the hands of Faraj al-Khādim al-Turkī, and the people settled in it. It is said that he also raided in this year. About that, Dāwūd b. Razīn the poet says: Through Hārūn, light shone in every town, and by him, in the justice of his conduct, the path was established. An imām whose preoccupation, for the sake of God, became, And most of what he concerns himself with is raiding and the pilgrimage. People's eyes are too narrow for the light of his face, When his radiant countenance appears to the people. Indeed God's trustee Hārūn, possessor of generosity, Grants the one who hopes from him multiples of what he hopes. The summer expedition in this year was led by Sulaymān b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Bakkāʾī. In it, Yazīd b. Ḥātim al-Muhallabī, the governor of Ifrīqiyah, died, and he appointed his son Dāwūd as his successor over it. The mountains of Bājah broke out in revolt, and the Ibāḍiyyah rose in it, so Dāwūd sent an army against them, but the Ibāḍiyyah defeated them and routed them. Then he equipped another army against them, and the Ibāḍiyyah were defeated. The army pursued them and killed many of them, and they were numerous. Dāwūd remained as governor until al-Rashīd appointed his paternal uncle Rawḥ b. Ḥātim al-Muhallabī as governor over Ifrīqiyah. Dāwūd's governorship lasted nine months. In it, al-Rashīd dismissed ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-ʿUmarī from al-Madīnah, upon whose inhabitant be peace, and appointed over it Isḥāq b. Sulaymān b. ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbbās. In it, those who had been hiding appeared. Among them was Ṭabāṭabā al-ʿAlawī, who is Ibrāhīm b. Ismāʿīl, and ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Ḥasan. A group of the zanādiqa remained who did not appear, among them Yūnus b. Farwah and Yazīd b. al-Fayḍ. In it, al-Rashīd detached all the frontier fortresses (al-thughūr) from al-Jazīrah and Qinnasrīn and made them a single district, and they were called al-ʿAwāṣim. In it, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Umawī, the ruler of al-Andalus, fell upon the Berbers of Nafzah, humiliated them, and killed among them. In it, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ordered the construction of the Great Mosque of Qurṭubah. Its site had been a church, and he spent one hundred thousand dinars on it.
