Then the year 157 AH began
وَفِيهَا أَخْرَجَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ يَقْظَانَ الْكَلْبِيُّ قَارْلَهْ مَلِكَ الْإِفْرِنْجِ. ( إِلَى بِلَادِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِنَ الْأَنْدَلُسِ، وَلَقِيَهُ بِالطَّرِيقِ، وَسَارَ مَعَهُ إِلَى سَرَقُسْطَةَ، فَسَبَقَهُ إِلَيْهَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْأَنْصَارِيُّ مِنْ وَلَدِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ، وَامْتَنَعَ بِهَا فَاتَّهَمَ قَارْلَهْ مَلِكُ الْإِفْرِنْجِ ) سُلَيْمَانَ، فَقَبَضَ عَلَيْهِ، وَأَخَذَهُ مَعَهُ إِلَى بِلَادِهِ فَلَمَّا أَبْعَدَ مِنْ بِلَادِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَاطْمَأَنَّ هَجَمَ عَلَيْهِ مَطْرُوحٌ وَعَيْشُونُ ابْنَا سُلَيْمَانَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِمَا، فَاسْتَنْقَذَا أَبَاهُمَا، وَرَجَعَا بِهِ إِلَى سَرَقُسْطَةَ، وَدَخَلُوا مَعَ الْحُسَيْنِ، وَوَافَقُوا عَلَى خِلَافِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ.
Translation
✧ In it, Sulaymān b. Yaqẓān al-Kalbī brought forth Qārlah, the king of the Franks, to the lands of the Muslims from al-Andalus, and met him on the way, and traveled with him to Saraqusṭah. Al-Ḥusayn b. Yaḥyā al-Anṣārī, from the descendants of Saʿd b. ʿUbādah, reached it before him and fortified himself in it. Then Qārlah, the king of the Franks, accused Sulaymān, so he seized him and took him with him to his own land. When he was far from the lands of the Muslims and felt secure, Maṭrūḥ and ʿAyshūn, the two sons of Sulaymān, attacked him with their companions, and rescued their father, and returned with him to Saraqusṭah, and they entered with al-Ḥusayn, and agreed upon opposing ʿAbd al-Raḥmān.
