Then the year 157 AH began
وَفِيهَا: وَسَّعَ طُرُقَ الْمَدِينَةِ وَأَرْبَاضَهَا، وَوَضَعَهَا عَلَى مِقْدَارِ أَرْبَعِينَ ذِرَاعًا، وَأَمَرَ بِهَدْمِ مَا شَخَصَ مِنَ الدُّورِ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ الْقَدْرِ.
Translation
✧ In it [the year 157 AH], he widened the roads of Madinah and its outskirts, and set them at a measure of forty cubits, and he ordered the demolition of whatever part of the houses protruded beyond that measure.
