Then the year 156 AH began
فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ ظَفِرَ الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَامِلُ الْبَصْرَةِ، بِعَمْرِو بْنِ شَدَّادٍ الَّذِي كَانَ عَامِلَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَلَى فَارِسَ، وَسَبَبُ ظَفَرِهِ بِهِ أَنَّهُ ضَرَبَ غُلَامًا لَهُ، فَأَتَى الْهَيْثَمَ، فَدَلَّهُ عَلَيْهِ، فَأَخَذَهُ، فَقَتَلَهُ، وَصَلَبَهُ بِالْمِرْبَدِ.
Translation
✧ In this year, al-Haytham b. Muʿāwiyah, the governor of al-Baṣrah, captured ʿAmr b. Shaddād, who had been the governor of Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbd Allāh over Fāris. The reason for his capture was that he struck a servant of his, and the servant went to al-Haytham and informed him of his whereabouts. So al-Haytham seized him, killed him, and crucified him at al-Mirbad.
