Then the year 156 AH began

ثُمَّ ثَارَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ عَلَى يَزِيدَ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ أَبُو يَحْيَى بْنُ فَانُوسٍ الْهَوَّارِيُّ بِنَاحِيَةِ طَرَابُلُسَ، فَاجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِ كَثِيرٌ مِنَ الْبَرْبَرِ، وَكَانَ بِهَا عَسْكَرٌ لِيَزِيدَ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ مَعَ عَامِلِ الْبَلَدِ، فَخَرَجَ الْعَامِلُ وَالْجَيْشُ مَعَهُ، فَالْتَقَوْا عَلَى شَاطِئِ الْبَحْرِ مِنْ أَرْضِ هَوَّارَةَ، فَاقْتَتَلُوا قِتَالًا شَدِيدًا، فَانْهَزَمَ أَبُو يَحْيَى بْنُ فَانُوسٍ، وَقُتِلَ عَامَّةُ أَصْحَابِهِ، وَسَكَنَ النَّاسُ بِإِفْرِيقِيَّةَ، وَصَفَتْ لِيَزِيدَ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ.

Translation

✧ Then in this year Abū Yaḥyā b. Fānūs al-Hawwārī rose up against Yazīd b. Ḥātim in the region of Ṭarābulus, and many of the Berbers gathered around him. Yazīd b. Ḥātim had an army there with the governor of the region. The governor went out with the army, and they met on the seashore in the land of Hawwāra. They fought a fierce battle, and Abū Yaḥyā b. Fānūs was defeated, and the majority of his companions were killed. The people of Ifrīqiyya became calm, and it was made clear for Yazīd b. Ḥātim.
