Then the year 153 AH began

وَفِيهَا أَخَذَ الْمَنْصُورُ النَّاسَ بِتَلْبِيسِ الْقَلَانِسِ الطِّوَالِ الْمُفْرِطَةِ الطُّولِ، فَقَالَ أَبُو دُلَامَةَ: وَكُنَّا نُرَجِّي مِنْ إِمَامٍ زِيَادَةً فَزَادَ الْإِمَامُ الْمُصْطَفَى فِي الْقَلَانِسِ.

Translation

✧ In this year al-Manṣūr compelled the people to wear tall qalansuwas (caps) of excessive length. Abū Dulāmah said: We had hoped for an increase from an imam, so the chosen imam increased the length of the qalansuwas.
