Then the year 151 AH began
وَفِيهَا: شَخَصَ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ سَلْمٍ مِنَ الْبَصْرَةِ وَاسْتَخْلَفَ عَلَيْهَا ابْنَهُ نَافِعَ بْنَ عُقْبَةَ عَلَى الْبَحْرِينِ، فَقَتَلَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ حَكِيمٍ الْعَبْدِيَّ وَسَبَى أَهْلَ الْبَحْرِينِ، وَبَعَثَ بِبَعْضِ مَنْ سَبَى مِنْهُمْ إِلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، فَقَتَلَ مِنْهُمْ عِدَّةً، وَوَهَبَ بَقِيَّتَهُمْ لِلْمَهْدِيِّ، فَمَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَعْتَقَهُمْ، وَكَسَا كُلَّ إِنْسَانٍ مِنْهُمْ ثَوْبَيْنِ مَرْوِيَّيْنِ، ثُمَّ عَزَلَ عُقْبَةَ عَنِ الْبَصْرَةِ.
Translation
✧ In it: ʿUqbah b. Salm departed from al-Baṣrah, appointing his son Nāfiʿ b. ʿUqbah as his successor over it, over al-Baḥrayn, and he killed Sulaymān b. Ḥakīm al-ʿAbdī and took the people of al-Baḥrayn captive. He sent some of those he had taken captive from them to Abū Jaʿfar, who killed a number of them, and gave the rest of them as a gift to al-Mahdī, who showed them favour and emancipated them, and clothed every one of them in two Marwī garments. Then he dismissed ʿUqbah from al-Baṣrah.
