Then the year 148 AH began
ذِكْرُ اسْتِعْمَالِ خَالِدِ بْنِ بَرْمَكَ وَفِيهَا اسْتَعْمَلَ الْمَنْصُورُ عَلَى الْمَوْصِلِ خَالِدَ بْنَ بَرْمَكَ . وَسَبَبُ ذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ انْتِشَارُ الْأَكْرَادِ بِوِلَايَتِهَا وَإِفْسَادُهُمْ، فَقَالَ: مَنْ لَهَا ؟ فَقَالُوا: الْمُسَيَّبُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ، فَأَشَارَ عُمَارَةُ بْنُ غَمْرَةَ بِخَالِدِ بْنِ بَرْمَكَ، فَوَلَّاهُ وَسَيَّرَهُ إِلَيْهَا، وَأَحْسَنَ إِلَى النَّاسِ، وَقَهَرَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ وَكَفَّهُمْ، وَهَابَهُ أَهْلُ الْبَلَدِ هَيْبَةً شَدِيدَةً مَعَ إِحْسَانِهِ إِلَيْهِمْ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the appointment of Khālid b. Barmak In this year al-Manṣūr appointed Khālid b. Barmak over Mosul. The reason for that was that news reached him of the Kurds spreading in its province and their corruption, so he said: "Who is for it?" They said: "Al-Musayyab b. Zuhayr." ʿUmārah b. Ghamrah indicated Khālid b. Barmak, so he appointed him and dispatched him to it. He was kind to the people, subdued the corrupt and restrained them, and the people of the town held him in great awe despite his kindness to them.
