Then the year 146 AH began
ذِكْرُ خُرُوجِ الْعَلَاءِ بِالْأَنْدَلُسِ وَفِيهَا سَارَ الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ مُغِيثٍ الْيَحْصُبِيُّ ( مِنْ إِفْرِيقِيَّةَ إِلَى مَدِينَةٍ ) بِنَاحِيَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْدَلُسِ، وَلَبِسَ السَّوَادَ، وَقَامَ بِالدَّوْلَةِ الْعَبَّاسِيَّةِ وَخَطَبَ لِلْمَنْصُورِ، وَاجْتَمَعَ إِلَيْهِ خَلْقٌ كَثِيرٌ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ الْأَمِيرُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأُمَوِيُّ، فَالْتَقَيَا بِنَوَاحِي إِشْبِيلِيَّةَ، ثُمَّ تَحَارَبَا أَيَّامًا، فَانْهَزَمَ الْعَلَاءُ وَأَصْحَابُهُ، وَقُتِلَ مِنْهُمْ فِي الْمَعْرَكَةِ سَبْعَةُ آلَافٍ، وَقُتِلَ الْعَلَاءُ. وَأَمَرَ بَعْضَ التُّجَّارِ بِحَمْلِ رَأْسِهِ وَرُءُوسِ جَمَاعَةٍ مِنْ مَشَاهِيرِ أَصْحَابِهِ إِلَى الْقَيْرَوَانِ وَإِلْقَائِهَا بِالسُّوقِ سِرًّا، فَفُعِلَ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ حُمِلَ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ إِلَى مَكَّةَ، فَوَصَلَتْ وَكَانَ بِهَا الْمَنْصُورُ، وَكَانَ مَعَ الرُّءُوسِ لِوَاءٌ أَسْوَدُ وَكِتَابٌ كَتَبَهُ الْمَنْصُورُ لِلْعَلَاءِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the rebellion of al-ʿAlāʾ in al-Andalus In this year al-ʿAlāʾ b. Mughīth al-Yaḥṣubī marched from Ifrīqiyah to a city in a district of al-Andalus. He donned the black garb, proclaimed the Abbasid state, and gave the Friday sermon in the name of al-Manṣūr. A great multitude gathered to him. The amīr ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Umawī went out against him. They met in the environs of Ishbīliyah, then fought for days. Al-ʿAlāʾ and his companions were routed, and seven thousand of them were killed in the battle. Al-ʿAlāʾ was slain. He commanded one of the merchants to carry his head and the heads of a group of the prominent men among his companions to al-Qayrawān and to cast them secretly in the market. This was done. Then some of them were carried to Makkah and arrived while al-Manṣūr was there. With the heads were a black banner and a letter that al-Manṣūr had written to al-ʿAlāʾ.
