Then the year 143 AH began
وَفِيهَا ثَارَ بِالْأَنْدَلُسِ رِزْقُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ الْغَسَّانِيُّ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَكَانَ رِزْقٌ عَلَى الْجَزِيرَةِ الْخَضْرَاءِ، فَاجْتَمَعَ إِلَيْهِ خَلْقٌ عَظِيمٌ، فَسَارَ إِلَى شَذُونَةَ فَمَلَكَهَا، وَدَخَلَ مَدِينَةَ إِشْبِيلِيَّةَ، وَعَاجَلَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَحَصَرَهُ فِيهَا، وَضَيَّقَ عَلَى مَنْ بِهَا، فَتَقَرَّبُوا إِلَيْهِ بِتَسْلِيمِ رِزْقٍ إِلَيْهِ فَقَتَلَهُ، فَآمَنَهُمْ وَرَجَعَ عَنْهُمْ.
Translation
✧ In it [the year 143 AH], Rizq b. al-Nuʿmān al-Ghassānī rose in al-Andalus against ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. Rizq was over al-Jazīrah al-Khaḍrāʾ, and a great multitude gathered to him. He marched to Shadhūnah and took possession of it, and he entered the city of Ishbīliyyah. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān hastened against him, besieged him there, and straitened those within it, so they drew near to him by handing Rizq over to him, and he killed him. Then he granted them security and returned from them.
