Translation
✧ Then the year 142 AH began Account of the rebellion of ʿUyaynah b. Mūsā b. Kaʿb In this year, ʿUyaynah b. Mūsā rebelled in al-Sind, where he was governor. The reason for his rebellion was that his father had appointed al-Musayyab b. Zuhayr as his deputy over the shurṭah. When Mūsā died, al-Musayyab continued in the post of shurṭah that he held, and he feared that al-Manṣūr would summon ʿUyaynah and appoint him to what his father had held. So he wrote to him a line of poetry, without attributing the letter to himself: Your land, your land! If you come to us, you will sleep a sleep in which there is no dream. So he renounced obedience. When the news reached al-Manṣūr, he marched with his army until he encamped at the bridge of al-Baṣrah, and he dispatched ʿUmar b. Ḥafṣ b. Abī Ṣufrah al-ʿAtakī as governor over al-Sind and al-Hind. ʿUyaynah fought him, but he marched until he reached al-Sind and took control of it.
