Then the year 142 AH began
ثُمَّ دَخَلَتْ سَنَةُ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعِينَ وَمِائَةٍ فَمِنَ الْحَوَادِثِ فِيهَا: خُرُوجُ الْمَنْصُورِ حَتَّى نَزَلَ بِعَسْكَرِهِ عِنْدَ جِسْرِ الْبَصْرَةِ الْأَكْبَرِ، وَبَنَى لَهُمْ قِبْلَتَهُمُ الَّتِي يُصَلُّونَ إِلَيْهَا فِي عِيدِهِمْ بِالْحُمَّانِ، وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عِيسَى بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْكِنْدِيَّ عَلَى الْبَصْرَةِ، وَمَعْنَ بْنَ زَائِدَةَ عَلَى الْيَمَنِ.
Translation
✧ Then the year 142 AH began Among the events in it: The departure of al-Manṣūr until he encamped with his army at the great bridge of al-Baṣrah, and he built for them their qiblah toward which they pray on their festival at al-Ḥummān, and he appointed ʿĪsā b. ʿAmr al-Kindī over al-Baṣrah, and Maʿn b. Zāʾidah over al-Yaman.
