Then the Year 129 AH Began
وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ غَلَبَ خَازِمُ بْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ عَلَى مَرْوِ الرُّوذِ وَقَتَلَ عَامِلَ نَصْرِ بْنِ سَيَّارٍ. وَكَانَ سَبَبُ ذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ لَمَّا أَرَادَ الْخُرُوجَ بِمَرْوِ الرُّوذِ، وَهُوَ مِنْ شِيعَةِ بَنِي الْعَبَّاسِ، مَنَعَهُ بَنُو تَمِيمٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا أَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْكُمْ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَغْلِبَ عَلَى مَرْوَ، فَإِنْ ظَفِرْتُ فَهِيَ لَكُمْ، وَإِنْ قُتِلْتُ فَقَدْ كُفِيتُمْ أَمْرِي. فَكَفُّوا عَنْهُ، فَعَسْكَرَ بِقَرْيَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا كُنْجَ رُسْتَاقَ، وَقَدِمَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ عِنْدِ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ النَّضْرُ بْنُ صُبَيْحٍ، فَلَمَّا أَمْسَى خَازِمٌ بَيَّتَ أَهْلَ مَرْوَ فَقَتَلَ بِشْرَ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ السَّعْدِيَّ عَامِلَ نَصْرِ بْنِ سَيَّارٍ عَلَيْهَا فِي أَوَّلِ ذِي الْقَعْدَةِ، وَبَعَثَ بِالْفَتْحِ إِلَى أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ مَعَ ابْنِهِ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ خَازِمٍ.
Translation
✧ In this year, Khāzim b. Khuzaymah gained control over Marw al-Rūdh and killed the governor of Naṣr b. Sayyār. The reason for that was that when he wanted to go out in Marw al-Rūdh—and he was one of the Shīʿah of the Banū al-ʿAbbās—the Banū Tamīm prevented him, so he said: “I am only a man from among you, wanting to gain control over Marw. If I succeed, it is yours; and if I am killed, you have been spared my affair.” So they held back from him, and he encamped at a village called Kunj Rustāq. Al-Naḍr b. Ṣubayḥ came to him from Abū Muslim, and when evening came, Khāzim launched a night attack against the people of Marw and killed Bishr b. Jaʿfar al-Saʿdī, the governor of Naṣr b. Sayyār over it, at the beginning of Dhū al-Qaʿdah, and he sent news of the victory to Abū Muslim with his son Khuzaymah b. Khāzim.
