Then the Year 126 AH Began
ذِكْرُ بَيْعَةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بِالْعَهْدِ وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ أَمَرَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بِالْبَيْعَةِ لِأَخِيهِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَمِنْ بَعْدِهِ لِعَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ. وَكَانَ السَّبَبُ فِي ذَلِكَ أَنَّ يَزِيدَ مَرِضَ سَنَةَ سِتٍّ وَعِشْرِينَ وَمِائَةٍ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ لِيُبَايِعَ لَهُمَا، وَلَمْ تَزَلِ الْقَدَرِيَّةُ بِيَزِيدَ حَتَّى أَمَرَ بِالْبَيْعَةِ لَهُمَا.
Translation
✧ Mention of the oath of allegiance to Ibrāhīm b. al-Walīd as heir apparent In this year Yazīd b. al-Walīd ordered the oath of allegiance to his brother Ibrāhīm, and after him to ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. al-Ḥajjāj b. ʿAbd al-Malik. The reason for that was that Yazīd fell ill in the year 126 AH, and it was said to him that he should secure the oath of allegiance for the two of them. The Qadarites kept at Yazīd until he ordered the oath of allegiance for the two of them.
