وَمِائَةٍ ذِكْرُ قَتْلِ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بن بخت وفي سَنَةُ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ وَمِائَةٍ غَزَا عَبْدَ الْوَهَّابِ مَعَ الْبَطَّالِ، فَانْكَشَفُوا فَأَلْقَى بَيْضَتَهُ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ وَصَاحَ: أَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ بُخْتٍ، أَمِنَ الْجَنَّةِ تَفِرُّونَ؟ ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ فِي نُحُورِ الْعَدُوِّ، فَمَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ يَقُولُ: وَا عَطَشَاهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: تَقَدَّمْ فَالرِّيُّ أَمَامَكَ فَخَالَطَ الْقَوْمَ فَقُتِلَ. وَقُتِلَ فَرَسُهُ.
Translation
✧ And one hundred. Mention of the killing of ʿAbd al-Wahhāb b. Bukht. In the year one hundred and thirteen, ʿAbd al-Wahhāb raided with al-Baṭṭāl, and they were routed. He threw his helmet from his head and shouted: "I am ʿAbd al-Wahhāb b. Bukht. Do you flee from Paradise?" Then he advanced into the throats of the enemy, and passed by a man saying: "O thirst!" He said to him: "Advance, for the quenching is before you." Then he mingled with the people and was killed. And his horse was killed.
