The Year 97
وفِي سنة سبع وتسعين حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ وَنُوَّابُ الْبِلَادِ هُمُ الْمَذْكُورُونَ فِي الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا، غَيْرَ أَنَّ خُرَاسَانَ عُزِلَ عَنْهَا وَكِيعُ بْنُ أَبِي سُودٍ، وَوَلِيَهَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْمُهَلَّبِ بْنِ أَبِي صُفْرَةَ مَعَ الْعِرَاقِ.
Translation
✧ In the year ninety-seven, the people performed the pilgrimage under Sulaymān b. ʿAbd al-Malik. The governors of the provinces were those mentioned in the previous year, except that Wakīʿ b. Abī Sūd was removed from Khurasan, and Yazīd b. al-Muhallab b. Abī Ṣufrah was appointed over it along with Iraq.
