The Year 97
وَفِي سنة سبع وتسعين عَزَلَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُوسَى بْنِ نُصَيْرٍ عَنْ إِفْرِيقِيَّةَ، وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَيْهَا مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الْقُرَشِيَّ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ عَلَيْهَا حَتَّى مَاتَ سُلَيْمَانُ فَعُزِلَ، فَاسْتَعْمَلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ مَكَانَهُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ سَنَةَ مِائَةٍ، وَكَانَ حَسَنَ السِّيرَةِ، فَأَسْلَمَ الْبَرْبَرُ فِي أَيَّامِهِ جَمِيعُهُمْ.
Translation
✧ In the year ninety-seven, Sulaymān b. ʿAbd al-Malik dismissed ʿAbd Allāh b. Mūsā b. Nuṣayr from Ifrīqiya, and appointed over it Muḥammad b. Yazīd al-Qurashī. He remained over it until Sulaymān died, then he was dismissed. ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz appointed in his place Ismāʿīl b. ʿUbayd Allāh in the year one hundred. He was of good conduct, and the Berbers all became Muslims during his days.
