The Year 95
وفي سَنَةُ خَمْسٍ وَتِسْعِينَ غَزَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بِلَادَ الرُّومِ، وَافْتَتَحَ حُصُونًا كَثِيرَةً. وَفِيهَا افْتَتَحَ مَسْلَمَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ مَدِينَةَ الْبَابِ مِنْ إِرْمِينِيَّةَ، وَخَرَّبَهَا، ثُمَّ بَنَاهَا مَسْلَمَةُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِتِسْعِ سِنِينَ. وَفِيهَا افْتَتَحَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ الثَّقَفِيُّ مَدِينَةَ الْمُولْتَانِ مِنْ أَرْضِ الْهِنْدِ، وَأَخَذَ مِنْهَا أَمْوَالًا جَزِيلَةً. وَفِيهَا قَدِمَ مُوسَى بْنُ نُصَيْرٍ مِنْ بِلَادِ الْأَنْدَلُسِ إِلَى إِفْرِيقِيَّةَ، وَمَعَهُ الْأَمْوَالُ عَلَى الْعَجَلِ تُحْمَلُ مِنْ كَثْرَتِهَا، وَمَعَهُ ثَلَاثُونَ أَلْفَ رَأْسٍ مِنَ السَّبْيِ. وَحَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ فِيهَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَهُ أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ وَالْوَاقِدِيُّ. وَفِيهَا قُتِلَ الْوَضَّاحِيُّ بِأَرْضِ الرُّومِ، وَمَعَهُ أَلْفٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ. وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ كَانَ مَوْلِدُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْمَنْصُورِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ. وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ افْتَتَحَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ قِنَّسْرِينَ.
Translation
✧ In the year ninety-five: Al-ʿAbbās b. al-Walīd raided the lands of the Byzantines, and conquered many fortresses. In it, Maslamah b. ʿAbd al-Malik conquered the city of al-Bāb in Armenia, and destroyed it; then Maslamah rebuilt it nine years after that. In it, Muḥammad b. al-Qāsim al-Thaqafī conquered the city of al-Mūltān in the land of India, and took from it abundant wealth. In it, Mūsā b. Nuṣayr arrived from the lands of al-Andalus to Ifrīqiyah, and with him were the riches carried on camels because of their abundance, and with him were thirty thousand captives. And Bishr b. al-Walīd b. ʿAbd al-Malik led the people in the ḥajj that year, as stated by Abū Maʿshar and al-Wāqidī. In it, al-Waḍḍāḥī was killed in the land of the Byzantines, and with him a thousand of his companions. In this year was the birth of Abū Jaʿfar al-Manṣūr ʿAbd Allāh b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbbās. And in this year al-ʿAbbās b. al-Walīd conquered Qinnasrīn.
