Translation

✧ In the year ninety-three, Muḥammad b. al-Qāsim, who was the cousin of al-Ḥajjāj b. Yūsuf, conquered the city of al-Daybul and other cities of the land of India. Al-Ḥajjāj had appointed him to lead the expedition to India when he was seventeen years old. He marched with the armies, and they met King Dāhir, the king of India, with a great gathering, and with him were twenty-seven select elephants. They fought, and Allah defeated them, and King Dāhir fled. When night came, the king advanced with a very large host, and they surrounded the Muslims. They fought a fierce battle, and King Dāhir was killed along with most of those with him. The Muslims pursued those of the Indians who fled and killed them. Then Muḥammad b. al-Qāsim marched and conquered the city of al-Kayraj and its land, and he returned with abundant spoils and countless wealth of jewels, gold, and other things.
